First thing first the answer is 3 hours. You have to compare the numbers 12/2 is to 8/3. The 12/3 =4 and the 8/2 = 4.

3 hours. You figure the ratio of the 12 man jod to the 8 man job is a ratio of 3:2. So the job with 8 men will take in essential 1 1/2 the amount of time if we use 2 hours as x. I know this is incorrect, bc there is not a completely true answer. The job has to be actually done to determine such a thing.

First, convert hours to minutes: 2 hours = 120 minutes

By dividing 120 minutes by 12 men, it takes 10 minutes per man to finish the job.

10 minutes x 8 men = 80 minutes, converted to 1 hr 20 min

Obviously you know nothing of the working world. A company has 12 guys and they do a job in 2 hours and 4 guys get laid off.
How long does it take those remaining 8 guys to do the same job? The same 2 hours or there will be trouble. They work harder and faster to get done in the same time. This is the working world honey.

You cant really tell because it doesn't state if they are performing concurrent or successive tasks.

Assuming that there is a direct relation to the number of men and type and quantity of work to be done, then it should be 3 hours. 12 x 2 = 24; 3 x 8 = 24

12*2/8 = 3 hours.

Unless you chose the 8 men who sit around while the other 4 are doing all the work.
