What does it mean when somebody, whom you suspect is attracted to you because of mutual flirtations in the past, now acts in a nervous manner when you're around? He can't look you in the eye, can't say many words, and is obviously shaky. Or could it mean that he is no longer attracted and that you're now bothering him? Sorry, but I'm not very good at reading people's actions and motives. Please help. FYI, we are both married professionals and have been flirting off and on with clearly no intention to escalate this to a higher level. Purely business, and it helps.

To add, he previously agreed to a dinner with me to discuss product. Recently, he said no dinners or anything in the evening, because, "it's hard". What's that about?

You make him nervous, that guy really likes you but he is repressing his feelings cos of your marital status. He doesn't wanna mess his/your life up.

Perhaps the person you have become close to is protecting himself/herself from temptation. It's possible your "flirtation" has attracted attention from superiors and he/she has been made aware of this. Unless your spouses are aware of the flirtation, your marriage will probably survive. Your job may, however, be in jeopardy.

If, in fact, you are both professional, you will be able to get your relationship "back on track" without any animosity.

Maybe he still likes you and wants it to be more than just office flirting. He could be nervous about telling you or nervous he will act out his desires. Usually irritating people make you roll your eyes, or clench your teeth, or sometimes the oh so irritated sigh.

He has probably been having a minor spat with his wife but now they are trying to work on their relationship... Don't worry just stay friendly and pretty soon he and his wife will get into it again and he will be flirtatious again.

Maybe he didn't know it was purely business and told his wife about you flirting with him. Maybe he really isn't interested and is trying to avoid you so he doesn't have to say it to your face.
