the part of the world facing the sun would probably turn into a desert while the other part would probably turn to a field of ice.

That's just my guess. I could be wrong.

First of all there would be no light to see and it would be very cold and dreary, none of the plants and animals or humans can get along without the vitamins that is in the sun to make vegetables, plants ,and animals to survive. And after a small amout of time nothing would exist just like it says in the Bible, the earth would go back to becoming a mass of matter and be void of any living thing. Even in Alaska there is 6 months of light, God said "let there be light and light was. There is even one place in the Bible where God made the sun stand still for a longer period of time so His people could win the battle they were in. The moon provides the light at night and the sun at day.

The shock wave that stooped the Earth from rotating would have sent tidal waves around the world thousands of feet tall. It would of caused major landslides in the mountains. It would have ripped open the earths crust in several areas.
The plants in half of the world would eventually dies out. This would endanger all the animals.

that doesn't quite work cuz the sun would be somewhere on earth... if it didn't reach us yet it would mean there is some rotational problem and everything would be demagnitized and we would all die slow painful deaths
