Try not to get jaded. Always help when you can and keep compassion by your side, you will become much more aware of yourself and others and start to discover why we are really here. It's important to make sure you maintain yourself and have the strength, because every situation will not turn out as you expect. Every situation is a lesson.

If a "giver" gives with an eye to obligating the recipient, he/she is doomed before they make their first gesture because a great many of those who receive have no gratitude in them. Such givers as those do indeed get the shaft, usually before the end. For a true giver, however, the very act of giving is their pay off. Whether, for their efforts and generosity, they receive in return gratitude or contempt, owing to their motive, it does not matter. For those kind of givers there simply is no shaft.

It would seem that way. I know I am always the giver and never the receiver. Opps!!! I am the receiver...in times of trouble.

No, true givers who give just to give...have no expectations of being on the receiving end.

The act of 'Giving' is its own Reward! Just in knowing that in your own heart, you did the right thing! And you don't even need to tell anyone about either.

That may be true but you can always be proud that you were there for someone else when they needed you. And that what really counts not what someone else does but what you do.
