Was it because the person put thought into it or it was something really cool that you liked or wanted?
My best birthday ever was when I turned 14 and I came home my mom told me to go clean up my room before my birthday party and when I walked in there it was: A makeup Vanity, I wanted one so bad for years, it was like seeing a long lost loved one for me. I had the best birthday, and It was a big deal for a girl of that age I thought so any ways.

My best girlfriend who was my roomate when we were teenagers, took me to Europe for my 50th birthday.
You had a nice gift and you have wonderful gifts to look forward too because as you get older and your friends get richer (that is if you and your friends stay in school and get good careers.)

The best birthday present I've ever had was last year's present: Nothing.
After informing my family and friends repeatedly that I wanted nothing and never getting anywhere they finally relented.
I have never been one to celebrate my own birthday nor be happy about it. The rest of the world may think of it as something to look forward to, but as far as I'm concerned you're just subtracting from the other direction and it's ******* depressing.

Well I have to say that when I turned 17 was the best birth day that I ever had I was sleping when some body kissed me I woke up like I was freecked out and then there was my girl in front of me then she was my gift I men she is the best thing I have ever got and loved the most I still am happy that I knew her even if she is not min.

My husband gave me a Krugarand for my birthday last year. We have been married for 12 years and there is such a deep meaning attatched to it. In short, it is a symbol. I believe that he was telling me I was his valuable princess. The meaning goes so much deeper in our family. Many are given to young brides on their wedding day from friends and family.
A Krugarand is a 1 oz gold coin from South Africa.
The value is worth whatever gold is worth at that time per ounce.

My daughter painted a rock with pink, yellow and blue colours and gave it to me with a ticket-holder that contains:
a) a ticket valid for a hug
b) a ticket valid for a magical history
c) a ticket valid for a bear kiss
d) and a ticket valid for an "I love you"...
That is the best I have ever had for a birthday gift!!!

It's not my birthday, but it was Christmas this past year. I love Chinese food and when ever i go out to dinner to a Chinese place i always say that i am going to buy a box a four tune cookies ( because they're my fav!) and so for Christmas my mom bought me a box of four tune cookies! : )

when I turned 14(5years ago), a pretty girl I liked(went out with her for 3 years) gave me a really cool gold ring, I didn't know what to say so I gave her a really big hug, thats what made it so special, the person whom I got it from(and I still have it and we talk about it)

For my birthday two years ago, my husband gave me our wedding band! He married me for my birthday! My mother got married on her birthday and since she passed on I always knew I wanted to get married on my birthday, so my husband did that for me! It was and will be the best gift I have ever received!

complete with a mtching outfit! That was from everybodi my family thoguh (mom dad sibling aunts uncles cousins second cousins grannies pa's etc.)
