That all depends. If it were to help us alleviate our future problems, like pollution/ population/ resources/ energy equilibrium, than it would prevent the disastrous path we are already upon. It all depends upon who QUARRLA gives the technology to. If it were given to the governments, it would become used for military applications before it was used for honest reasons. If it were given to universities, researchers, Bill Gates, and/or third world countries that deserve to be the new world power it would probably be more wisely used. Let's face it: if you give it to U.S. or Europe, they might consider using it to invade your home. They, and I, know where you really live. China and Russia probably know too. Brazil doesn't. Most of Sub-Saharan Africa doesn't. Why not South America? It's accesible, nice people who want to make a good living, lot's of pretty trees, prime tourist beaches, and politicians are might be controllable. Think it through. If you were to 'shake things up', why not throw everyone a curve ball? Change everything for ever!

It depends on what this technology does. It could hasten own self-destruction if it is made to cause destruction. However, if it's made to help, then it could very well help us in many ways instead of causing us more problems.

you would have to be foolish for we of the Zenon amazon tribe have highly supperior intelect to those of offworld planets as we would use your crappy technology to relieve ourselves in hence not contributing to our own self destruction
