use a small amount of your usual laundry detergent and add 1 full cup of white vinegar. wash and add 1/2 to 1 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle. vinegar will remove sweat and smell. air dry and fluff in dryer depending on the pads you have in question.

yes, put them in the washing machine with detergent. Then air dry them.
Done it hundreds of times for my son.

Yes they can just wash them in a light cycle with detergent and don't put them into the dryer or your son will KiLL you!
