I don't know, but I think Anchel and Melrose are the best picks this cycle.

The reasons is simple. The ANTM models are too pretty (for the most part), too old (to BEGIN a career in modeling) and NOT THIN ENOUGH! Believe it or not. Everyone should take a look at some of the video and still shots from last falls' New York Fashion Week

http://www.olympusfashionweek.com/fall2006/designers/calvin_klein/1.html

Calvin Kline (the above link) is one of the most well know designers in the world and look at his models. There are only a very few designers who will have shows where most, if not all of the models are breathtaking, but they are't "top" supermodels. Most of them you wouldn't even know their names. There are rumors that many of the top designers don't pay models to "walk" in their runway shows, it's just an honor to be there, so how difficult is it to compete in such a competitive business, when your competition will work for free (they can do it, they're already making a fortune with their fashion and cosmetic contracts)..

The last thing is the influence of celebritities in modeling. I was at a store recently and Revelon had Kate Bosworth, Halle Berry, Eva Mendes and Susan Sarondon as their display models. Celebrities also grace the covers of many magazines instead of high fashion models. Also if you look at a list of the top faces to watch in up and comming models,

Many are 16 and 17 years old, not 21 or 22 like the ANTM candidates.

Part of a model's job is to simply where what they are told and do what they are told. Take an an ugly garment (and a lot of high fashion is UGLY) and make it look hot. I think a lot of the next top model girls might be a bit over opinionated to start a career in modeling. It's kind of like the military, they want 'em young because it's harder to make someone into a puppet as they become older, wiser and more set in their ways.

I'm not sure a reality TV modeling competition would be able to succeed if the girls (not women) were like these actual fashion models. But the contestants and winners of ANTM, if they are smart, will take their fifteen minutes of fame and MAKE theirselves a career, whatever that career may be (Adrienne Curry = Reality TV Star x 3 and Playboy model). These women can have great, LUCRATIVE careers as models without ever being a "supermodel" (Cycle 2 winner, Yoanna House hosts "The Look for Less" on StyleNetwork and I've heard some of the others are doing well in modeling or other areas of entertainment) in the traditional sense of the word, I believe many of the ANTM contestants (winner or not) will be able to have a successful modeling careers, even if they are't top, or Supermodels. They just need to make sure they learn the BUSINESS of what they are doing and work very hard. Success, especially reaching the very TOP of a field, is not generally easy no matter what career you are pursuing.

The reason is the show say you could be the next top model. It hasn't had one because they use the show to get started and they heads blow up money come fast and they settle for what brings fast money and the hard work to do what it takes to be a top model goes out the window the attitude "at least I made something out of my self" kicks in and they find them selves stuck where they are in life just in the industry not the best, worse just known from America next top model.

They almost did. But they decided to go with Adrienne Curry in the first round. Elyse Sewell who was third in the first season is a top model in Asia and Europe. I think she permanently live in Tokyo. I always thought Elyse would win.

my hubby brought that up to , none of the girls have reached any level of modeling yet. I really hated it when the big girl was on there and they knew she wouldnt be able to fit into some of those outfits. they did that on purpose

real super models don't come around that often. There can only be 2 or three in the celebrity spotlight at one time.

Only in american do we make stars of skinny, starving, runway models who wear other people designs, ideas and clothes and become famous.

Eva has been pretty successful. A lot of the work they do isn't known if we don't follow their personal careers closely. I haven't seen any episodes this season yet.

I read that one of the girls. Sorry can't remember which one decided that modeling just wasn't for her. I think they just really wanted the exposure.

Maybe if they have some healthy looking contestants instead of eating disorder girls.
