It takes 6 to 10 days for implantation to occur after fertilization. The body does not start to produce the hormone HCG until implantation occurs. Hcg is the hormone that pregnancy tests use to determine pregnancy. So wait about 10 days to be on the safe side then go ahead and take the test. GOOD LUCK.

about 5 days after the missed period I don't know your wife's/girlfriends cycle so I would not know how long after sex to take the test. Best to wait until she has missed her periods

I heard about a week... I really don't know. So, I am guessing a week to test, or wait until she misses her period.
