We need to do Clean Boot to your system

Try Clean Boot
Click on Start>Run>msconfig
Select selective start up and uncheck Process system.ini, Process win.ini, Load start Up items.

Always provide details like past performances (recent installations etc. is required) to solve these kind of problems. Too many softwares installed can create conflicts in your windows running environment especially if your computer's hardware is not as per the recommended specifications.

Next you must download the professional version. With the Drivescrubber2. After that is installed you need to run the drivescrubber2. Your Msconfig.exe file maybe infected with virus so you need updated antivirus & check your computer deeply. And also need system patches from microsoft so trun on your system auto updating or check it from www.windowsupdate.com.

I suspect that your MSCONFIG.EXE got virused, as it should not goes off when you run this program.
Why not install first an antivirus and check your windows folder?

your machine is infected with .nfo virus remove it first if not removed try the winxp with sp2. .nfo virus not harm due to the patch which is included in sp2
