True Love's the gift that God has given
to Man alone beneath the Heavens
It is not Fantasy's Hot Fire
Whose Wishes, as soon as grant'd, fly
It Liveth not in Fierce Desire
With Desire Dead, it does not Die
It is the Secret Sympathy,
the Silver Link - The Silken Tie
Which Heart to Heart and Mind to Mind
in Body and in Soul can Bind
- from 'Lay of the Last Minstrel' by Sir Walter Scott

I think eventually you have to define it for yourself. To some it is the butterflies you get in your stomach when you are with that someone, to some it is trust, to some it is security, to some it is the ability to feel truly safe, to some it is a promise of fidelity, to some it is just warmth and caring...
It depends on the relationship as well... a mother's love is very different from the love for a friend which is very different than that of a romantic partner etc.
I think as you grow up you define what is important to you, and the person who helps you find those things (smiling all the way,) is the person you end up loving the most.
Summed up... thats how "you just know" when you find it.

Real love is when you can't be apart from your partner, when you think about them all the time no stop. That person makes you are better person, they make you happy and their happiness is their happiness. if one of you is sad the other is too, you laugh together, you cry together. Love is the best feeling in the world I wouldn't trade it for anything. I hope you find it someday, if you have not yet. Hope this helps you out some.

Real love is sacrificial.
It intrinsically puts the other before self - the needs of the other, the pleasing, the thought
It si happy when the other is
It protects, consoles, listens to, cares,
It is the soft place to land.
It gratefully values the gift.

Love starts by knowing GOD first,, the gift that he as given us, shines out in our outward appearance to others,,( i hope this makes sense,,) but starts by knowing the LORD as out savior.. thank you for your time.. later1
