You could go with one of the most obvious, like the e coli outbreak in spinach or something involving the war in Iraq, or you might try to find something more unique and interesting at the website below. It is a news source made specifically for students, so it should be easy to understand and many of the topics should interest you.

First come up with what you want your current event to be - whether that is information about the war in Iraq, the recent news story about the first female tourist in space, new elections and how they're going, new relationships between countries, or all of the above.

Then, start with what will capture the interest of your reader, i.e. "Did you know that there has never been a tourist in space?" Then, choose the main ideas from the article(s) you read for information and stick them together in the paragraph!

Best of luck. Try to do this yourself, without copying & pasting from this Answers Forum. :)

May I suggest that you go to Yahoo home page and read Kofi Annans departing speech today, to the UN?

You should get what you need, not by copying but by paraphrasing.

I don't necessarily feel that he has accomplished much, but whoever wrote his speech did well. I also think that there was much to read, between the lines.

This simply means your opinion on what is going on in the news. How do you feel about the war in Iraq, the Pope's comments that Islamic community is angry about, the Polar Ice-Caps receding, the high price of gas, etc. How do you feel about these things? How do they affect you, etc.
