Tom is suffering from the same kind of narcissistic fall out that Michael Jackson has had. Fame and fortune from a very young age does a big time head job on ya, my friend. Some of them can't just have a faith, they need that special ummph. Look at Madonna, after all the button pushing she's done all her career, all the crafted controversities we all fell for like suckers, she cannot go back to being a humble Italian Catholic - she has to go Kabbalah. Tina Turner's trials and tribulations shook the foundations or a strong Southern Baptist upbringing to have her go to Buddhism. These celebs crave a higher "high", and they have the money to do it - the bread is burning a hole in their pockets, as the saying goes.

Scientology is indeed absolutely ridiculous. For one thing, it's the only religion in the world that you have to pay money to practice. For another thing, the doctrines they teach can be divided into three categories: 1.) ripped off from psychotherapy, 2.) ripped off from other religions, 3.) utterly absurd and obviously made up by a bad science fiction writer.
BTW, anyone else who thinks that nobody has the right to criticise a religion - anyone has the right to criticise anything. That's why we have brains. All we critics have to do is come up with substantial and serious criticisms. Religions generally demand uncritical faith, so the onus is actually on you guys to defend your fairytales. Good luck.

If you actually read Dianetics you will find that the "religion" is actually based on some very solid fundamentals. Now as for the fanatics in the group (Tom being one) - they are just plain ole out there. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

i think of he's a sturdy actor (enjoyed his performances in Rain guy, Minority record and The conflict Of The Worlds) yet as someone he's better than somewhat loopy and deluded!! individually i do no longer hate human beings for being loopy inspite of the incontrovertible fact that, yet some human beings do.

Maybe when people spend their whole lives 'acting' like other people, eventually they just forget who they really are and lose it.
He does seem to have gotten progressively weirder over the years, and it's not only him. It seems to happen to a lot of actors.

Hopefully Katie will come to her senses and run before he gets her to marry him. He is a self-centered loon.
