I've had a Razor since they first came out about two years ago and have never heard of that problem or experienced it myself. I'm sure there was some kind of thick wire in the old phone that got worn away or something. Also, it depends on the build and the design. Perhaps this was just your personal experience with one phone. I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your new flip phone if you get it!

Flip phones are meant to flip open and shut so I doubt your conversations were getting cut off because of that. It sounds like your phone was just suffering from a technical defect.
I have had flip phones for years and never had a problem with them. Phones get better all the time, the technology is advancing at a rapid rate so you should try again with a new flip phone. I recommend Motorola phones.

I have had my same Samsung flip phone for almost exactly 2 years now and I've never had a problem. But if I were you I'd get the warranty plan for your phone, it's like a couple bucks a month and if something happens to your phone they'll help you replace it with no trouble.

I have had cell phones since they first came out in the 80's and I really prefer not having the flip ones because they do seem to break at the hinge plus they have the extra step of having to open them and then half the time I would fumble it and hang up on the caller.

i have an LG 6100 and the only thing that happened to it was that the charger piece that went inside the bottom of the phone fell out but verizon replaced my whole phone for $50 and i dont have insurance. that is after about 2 years of using it. it has worked perfectly besides that ( its a flip phone )

I have broken many flip phones and finally went with a Treo 650 and I would never go for a flip again, I'm too rough with my phones.

Ive never heard of that happening recently, and i love my flip. and I'm constantly opening and closing it just because I'm bored and stuff. if i were you i wouldn't worry about it, but just in case, you may as well get cell phone insurance.

i too, have noticed that the hinges on flip phones loosen up over time. i suggest trying a swivel phone :) i have the sony w600i and i love it. you don't even have to "swivel" it open to answer and make calls. personally, i think motorola phones are ugly and made cheap anyways.

This has never happened to me. Try to be more gentle when you open it or put it in a case so you don't drop it. I wish you luck with your new phone though.
