The United States entered the 20th Century as the world''s leading industrial power and a majorr player in World Politics yet it was hesitant to become involved in international events due to its nativist adn isolationist tendencies. how would i describe an event during this period where this conflict in international interestd and isolationism came into play

Possibly the "Boxer Rebellion." The British forced the Chinese to open their ports to Brittish imports, particularly opium, and the Chinese fought back. America pretty much stayed out of it. We did not enter either the first or second world wars until we were attacked, so strong was the nutralist sentiment of those days. Too bad we can't get back to that way of thinking. I wish America would let the rest of the world go to hell in a hand-basket. We always get in trouble when we stick our noses in someone else's affairs.
