When I was out hiking & climbing in one of the National Forests, I unavoidably used...moss! I wasn't crazy about having to do so, but we were several miles from even a portolet, and I had NO warning.
It worked reasonably well...as well as emergency makeshift can be expected.

people say newspaper but i would never use that s.h.i.t to wipe my a.s.s,,so disgusting,lol.i would use Kleenex,napkins,or baby wipes if i ever ran out of toilet paper but guess if your in the woods and nature calls you you make do with what you have,just don't s.h.i.t on the floor like sumthin from flavor of love and you will be all set...
