Here is a secret, L'oreal is the drugstore Lancome. Made by the SAME company. Thats why you will notice a lot of the products are very similar.

If you want a cheaper alternative to expensive lancome foundations, powders and concealers, you can buy them from L'Oreal Paris since they are the same company. I know L'Oreal is a couple dollars more expensive than other drugstore makeup brands but it uses similar technology... You can see that when you try out their skincare too!

Depends. A friend of mine works for a top of the line cosmetic store, and she thinks some Cover Girl make up is actually really good, like blush, lipstick etc. She would spend more money on powder, foundation and mascara though because with the cheaper makeup you can really tell a huge difference. Hope this helps.

Check the ingredients- if Lancome is more expensive, it could be becuase they used higher-quality natural ingredients

Honestly it depends what really works best for you and your skin type. Name brands do not always mean they are better just more expensive. If you like covergirl and it works for you then continue using it. I like maybelline and covergirl products but they work for me. Compare your brands and then you can choose.

absolutely, it's all in the ingredients. the cheaper things tend to have a longer list of generic junk, derived from derivitives of derivitives of serums and substances found in nature. the more expensive ones try to incorporate more wholesome goodies, which is why they are more expensive. pearl dust and rose petals are a lot harder to mass produce than coloring pigments and aluminums.
