How does a guy be goth?

There is no way to "act" goth. Maybe you should do some research and find out exactly what goth is. Goth is not what everyone thinks it is...black clothes, white make-up. Goth can be considered a whole subculture...but it is NOT a way to "act".

Goth is a state of consciousness. You either are or you ain't. As a child of the 80's, I was an original goth, back when the movement was still young and all about non-conformity. Now, even the goths are turning into sheep. Hot Topic??? We didn't have our own retail chain back then. My advise would be to do your own thing and find your own way to be different. Dress monochromatically in the color of your choice (orange? teal?), adopt a favorite obscure musical genre (Hanoi Rocks, Iggy Pop, etc.) and compose angst-filled poetry dedicated to whales or tree frogs or existentialism or your navel. THEN you will be considered original and a bit weird.

If you do nothing but act goth, you are a poser. Goth music can consist of of goth, darkwave, ethereal, rock, new wave, postpunk, and much more. high gothic literature is considered preffered goth reading- Byron, Shelley, Keats, Poe, ect. If all you think goth is about is black clothes, black makeup and a snotty 'life sucks' attitude, you should really check out goth.net. Peace.

In all honesty, all the goth people I have ever personally know, which means 3, have been some of the most cheerful people I have ever known. That may or may not help, but that's been my understanding of people I know who dress in the pop culture Goth style. Of course, they're all individuals, and that can't be expected of everyone, but it's certainly what I've seen.

gggg g, Don't worry about it, most goth act goth. Except in the Northwest U.S. That's the only real gaggle of goth in the United States, according to the government. First, dye yourself white. Second, hair, finger and toe nails black. All makeup, black. Clothing, black. What an exciting person you are going to be. Send me a picture, second thought, seen one goth, seen them all. Ever thought about being a hippie?

why do wanna be goth? then you're not being urself, which isnt cool at all. plus, you cant "act" goth. its a way of life. and REAL goths believe in the devil. the other people just really like the color black.

Simple. You don't. Trying to act goth means your a poser in my book. Trust me! It's easier to be yourself than to act like someone else.

2) Wear darker shade of makeup then you normally wear (don't be afraid of black, purple and deeeeep scarlet, even if you are male)
3) Chains, buckles, lace, mesh.
4) Corsets
5) Watch Interview with the Vampire and Nosferatu.
6) Listen to Evanescence and Nightwish
7) Learn not to smile
8) Learn to smirk while having a lustful gleam in your eye.
9) Wear an Ahnk pendant
10) Become a pagan buy buying a "insta-pagan" kit off Ebay.
