Yes, I can start holding my breath in 45 seconds.
Should I hold it FOR 45 seconds too, or would longer be better?

When I was 16 I could swim from one end of an Olympic sized swimming pool to the other and back and then half way back again UNDER WATER without coming up for air!!!
Yes I can still hold my breath for a long time but not like that any more. Haven't needed to in YEARS! LOL!!! I'm 48 now and never smoked in my life.

i can swim my pool and a half. 30 feet plus 15 feet = 45 feet, and i go about a foot per 2 seconds so i geuss i can stay under for over a minute. i push off from the wall so i get a fast start.

I can get my breathing down to one breathe a minute. I'm sure anyone could do even more with practice.
