why is it that sometimes there my ipod displays the artist name twice with different songs in them

why does my ipod sometime show the artist's name twice with songs from the same album in the 2 diffent files names
if you know how to fix it please explain

maybe you spelled them differently-if so then it thinks of it as 2 different artists It could also be different years or something or something is wrong with your ipod that I would talk to Apple about.
