First, you may want to put into an equation the words of your sentense.

1/2 /4 = x
1/2 / 4/1 = 1/2 x 1/4 = 1/8

If you put into a calculator the decimal equivilent of 1/2, which is 0.5 and divide it by 4, you will get 0.125 which is the decimal equivilent of 1/8.
