No way to give a good answer without knowing what you already have. RAM will generally give you the best boost in performance for your money but if you've already got 1Gig+ then a vid card may be a good idea.

My suggestion is to edit your question to add your system specs.

I have to be the one to suggest the guitar! They're selling them sub $200 in Wal-Mart, granted they're nothing special but it's something to get started on. I paid $18 for my first bass and it probably saw more use than the Fender Precision I own now and just polish a lot.

Why don't you wait and see what the sales are on Wednesday or on Sunday and then go from there. I like to get all that I can for the money I spend and at the same time get something that I will use a lot or have a NEED for..

for $200 you could by a pretty decent dvd writer or maybe a new hard disk. Or get a really good set of speakers. $200 wont buy that nice of a video card, but I guess you could throw your own cash in. You can get a nice mp3 player for about that too.

Too bad you got a gift card and not a cash card, because that electric guitar can be had from http://www.musiciansfriend.com

You should get what you want.

I would upgrade RAM or purchase an external hard drive.

Both would cost about that much.
