my dad has diverticulitis, and when it acts up the doctor always puts him on antibiotics.. the main thing is to avoid things that can flare it up (nuts, popcorn, that sort of thing) if not you'll end up in the hospital for a couple days due to the extreem pain and in some cases peeing blood.
