Explain the pattern that helps you solve 40divided by8 and 40,000divided by. please help!!!!!

40/8 = 5

If you need to divide 40000 by 8 you can think of 40000 as 40*1000. So you divide the 40 again, and then multiply it by 1000 and you get 5*1000 which is 8000

if you check, 40000/8=5000

40/8 = 5
400/8 = 50
4000/8 = 500
etc...

The pattern is take the number 5, and put on the number of 0's following the 4 subtracted by 1

ex.
400,000,000,000/8
take the number 5, because you already know 40/8 = 5
Then count the number of 0's following 400,000,000,000 which is 11
Then subtract that number of 0's by 1, so you get 10
Then add that many 0's to five, so you add 10 zeros to five
So you get 50,000,000,000
