My 2005 Kia sorento 5spd trans is great but the 18city 21highway could be helped. I know there are many products out there on the market that dont work or are just rediculious. I already have a K&N filter in my air box looking to widen the exhaust cat back to help with flow. Any other ideas or maybe that you have applied to your own sorento? Any advice would be great!!!

a k&n filter does help your fuel mileage, its not true that things that are for performance make you get less mpg, that is a myth cuz most people with high performance stuff drive fast and get less mpg.. so just watch your speed and keep your rpms low, an exhuast would help, but dont go too big, you might also try just a header and hiflo cat and maybe some lightweight engine pulleys and lightweight flywheel, also smaller and lighter rims will also help alot... less weight for the engine to move the better mpg you will get.. an suv is not good for that since they are heavy, so lighten it up, when you dont need your back seats take them out, stuff like that will help, but to get any major improvment you would have to go to extremes, like removing the whole interior and dash, things like that

Since you have 4WD, your mileage will be lousy due to the extra weight required by the 4WD system. Adding the K&N box may have been counterproductive because that is a performance enhancement vs. a fuel economy enhancement. The only thing I can suggest is try using the higher gears earlier and watching your speed. Make sure there is 30 psi in all 4 tires. Make sure the engine is tuned up - all that stuff. Save your money for the things your car needs - not for making it faster and less fuel efficient.
