too many to list them all, so how about a top 5. it'll be valid for the next five minutes anyway...

1. r.e.m. - exhuming mccarthy
scarily up to date, you wouldn't believe it was actually written in 1986 and first released in 1987. it applies again in full.

2. bob dylan - with god on our side
sums up the dangers of mixing religion and politics in a nutshell, which makes it just as up to date as the first one. i also love the history of the tune.

3. josh ritter - thin blue flame
the tragedy of war in cinemascope. amazing, amazing, amazing!

4. johnny cash - man in black
the first song that came to my mind when bush was re-elected. it was, and still is, a very good reason to wear black, for all the reasons mr j.r. cash gave.

5. rio reiser - wann?
there can be no real activism without love, and rio put this sentiment into beautiful words.
