when all washing machines that I know of have a handy fabric softener dispensor built right into the agitator?Just wondered why waste the money on something you already have?

I use a coin operated laundry and the machines do not all have dispensors. I use a downyball because if I don't I forget to add the fabric softener half the time.

not all washers have the dispenser. I like the downy ball because I don't have to listen for the rinse cycle to start and run add the softener. The ball just makes life easier.

The softener dispenser in my washing machine gets very gunky when I use it, and it's not easy to clean.

Some machines do not have the dispenser or may be they are broken. Nice that you live in such a new and shiny world.

Because not all machines have the automatic dispenser - especially the ones in college dorms, laundrymats or apartment buildings.

I got mine for free, and I use it because my dispenser is broken. The ball means I don 't have to listen for the rinse.

I think the balls pretty much come free, I know we have a bunch of them around.
