They didn't take over Afghanistan. They went in to boot the taliban out with Canadian help. Then they ran out on us Canadians to go fight an illegal war in Iraq, so as a result the Taliban have not been totally defeated, and Bin Laden has not been found. Too bad. If they could have stayed the course, they might have accomplished something useful.

The NATO forces are at war with the Taliban. They have a supposedly elected pres. (appointed by Bush) and the contry is still in turmoil. 4 Canadian solders were killed yesterday by a suicide bomber on a bike. The Pres. is visiting Ottawa right now in fact. Because of the nature of the people the war there is impossible to win
Someone had better start reading the history of war in Afghanistan. I could find info going back to 1500 BC. This country has been at war forever.
Muslim armies went into India through the Khyber Pass back in AD 1000 and war continued for centuries. We have the first Afghan war with the British (1839-42). In January 1842, the Afghans slaughtered 16,000 British and Indian troops as they retreated through the Khyber Pass. Then there was the second Afghan war (1878-79). In 1919, we have the third Afghan war. Basically, there was war against the British from 1930 to independence in August 1957.
Most of us know what happened to the Russians. The second biggest superpower in the world left with its tail between its legs. I must add that the Afghans had a lot of help from the Americans.
This country will never be conquered, and the warlords will not stand for foreigners telling them what to do. I don’t know what the solution is, and I do feel deeply sorry for the poor Afghan people. But I don’t think that the country is worth one Canadian life. Everything will be as it is 20, 30, 40, maybe 100 years from now.
I am not anti-military and I support our troops 100 per cent.

We never took afghanistan over. We handed the country over to drug warlords who rule the country with intimidation, torture, murder and corruption. In many ways the people in charge of the provinces now are much worse than the Taliban or Saddam Hussein.

We didn't take it over. They have their own president. It must be going fairly well over there, as Coca-cola recently announced plans to build a 25 million dollar plant soon. And you know that as business goes, the country goes. And GET YOURSELF EDUCATED.
