My ex boyfriend broke off our relationship of 8 months about 5 months ago when I brought up the fact that I was developing strong feelings for him. He said that he was not ready to get serious because he was still not over his hearbreak from his previous girlfriend. I e-mailed him recently just to see how he was doing and since then we have spoken on the phone a couple times. He said he still had some of my stuff and we should meet up for dinner and he could give it back to me. He also mentioned that he wanted to see me, not just to give me my stuff. It has taken me a long time to get over him, and now my feelings are coming back. Do you think he wants to try again, or just wants to catch up, or have a meaningless fling?

Maybe he values you as a person and just wants to be your FRIEND.
Why don't you just have dinner with NO expectations and see what happens.

Sounds like he may want to use the excuse of giving your stuff back as a ploy to see you now either to a) discuss possibly becoming serious or b) he wants a quick booty call. For now I would put the emotions on hold I know they are coming back again but you have to look at the two options you are facing.
Join him for dinner and find out the real truth behind his request to see you. Lay it all on the table and if it is choice a) I hope it works out for you. If it is choice b) and you don't mind just being a fling for now, more power to you but if you still want him to be serious tell him thanks for dinner and your stuff back and leave him with the check. (Hopefully you ordered the most expensive thing on the menu!)

Sounds like he just wants a little on the side. I dont think I would want to be used that way if I had feelings for him before, in the long run you will probably be hurt again. Unless he brings your stuff back and says he is ready to be serious.
