Ebay is a great place to shop! I love it. I get great deals all of the time. As far as your second question, the answer is you don't.
I have thousands of feedbacks. I am a seller on Ebay & I myself have been cheated. Make sure that you always pay via PayPal. You as a buyer are protected up to $1000 for your purchase. Always check the sellers feedback. Always. Now I have been burned by someone with a high feedback rating, but the chances are much less. I never personally buy from someone with less than 98% positive feedbacks. Although, I read the comments & make that decision on a case by case basis if the comments seem unfair to the seller & I really want the item. Try it & see how you like it. Most people love Ebay. Actually, millions of people love Ebay. I shop there more than anywhere else. Good Luck to you.

Its fine, I've been buying and selling there for more than 5 years. As everyone has said check the feedback of the seller. If there isn't much or it isn't all positive pass up the deal. It isn't uncommon for someone with thousands of positive feedbacks to have one or two negatives. Some people just will never be satisfied. Use a bit of judgment and you'll be fine. One last thought, watch out for shipping charges some sellers list their items at incredibly low prices and charge extremely high shipping. Its against eBay rules but it is pervasive anyway. Happy shopping :)

You will have to research the item. Check the sellers feedback score. Email them and ask a lot of questions. If the price sounds too good to be true, use common sense and pass. There is a lot of "fake" items on eBay, but just check the item you want, watch it for a little while. You may end up getting a great deal. But do the research.

I LOVE eBay. I'm not kidding. I've purchased two cars on that website not to mention tons of electronics, jewelry and clothes and some investment property. Yes, there are some sellers out there who will cheat you. The best way not to get cheated is to buy from reputable sellers with lots of great feedback and know the products you're buying and how much you're willing to pay for them.

I've generally had very good experiences shopping via eBay. But make sure you make any sizable purchases using PayPal. They will get your money back in case you do get scammed. Ebay has a complaint department, but it is worthless.

I shop on Ebay...

It is addictive. The best thing to do is look at the sellers feedback and see how other peoples experiences went with them.

Also always pay via paypal, as if something goes wrong. You are covered

Email the seller 1-2 times before bidding, and if they are from overseas and ask for payment western union(or some form), back away, its a scam.

You have to be careful, look at the rating of the seller, the picture of the merchandise, make sure that the usage or mileage is low. Also select one that offers a warranty or money back.
