I am reading a biography of Mao Tse-Tung and how the Chinese communists created their own communist state in China in the early 1930's which the US didn't recognise as being legitimate. This begs the question then - are there any countries in the world today that the US government doesn't officially recognise?

Taiwan, since they recognized mainland China they had to officially withdraw recognition of Taiwan

Somaila is a country that American has no dimplomatic relationships with, it is reconized by the Arab Union. Tibet, after China's conquest, is considered part of China. These are the only countries I can think of that American doesn't reconize or extend full dimplomatic relationships with.
