"Graffiti"?

Question

Today I drove by an abandoned building in my neighborhood and noticed a new "tag". I do not understand why people "tag" buildings and overpasses etc. While some tagging is beautiful and can even be very artistic (like a mural), most of it just makes our cities and towns trashy. What is the logic behind this behavior?

IN SHORTS: TAGGERS ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE DESPARATE FOR ATTENTION....THEY NEED SOMEONE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOONE...THEY AREN"T STUPID IN THEIR CAPACITIES TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE...THEY ARE STUPID IN THE WAY THEY CHOOSE TO DEAL WITH THEIR PROBLEMS...and that's sad

I find it very offensive and I feel less safe in a neighborhood that has tagging. That was one of the reasons that we left Southern California. There was tagging everywhere, even in the nice suburbs. There is no grafitti in my suburban Dallas neighborhood.

I guess it's because some people want other people's attention. Or it could be done by a gang member. When gang's put graffitti on walls it's probably to mark their territory and tell other rival gangs to keep out of that area. But mostly it's done probably by kids who wanna express themselves in some form because they can't express themselves in other forms.

I completely agree. Some of it in the right place looks nice. Most of the people that do it, SUCK!! Its just ugly and pointless!

taggin sucks, but its novice graff, they have to start somewhere.
