I am working on toys for deaf/hearing impaired kids. Anyone know where I can get the lights like the ones in kids shoes that flash when they are moved?

The lights used in those shoes are call LED's (light emitting diodes) They are activated due to a spring being being placed inside a metal cylinder, when there is sharp motion the spring moves hitting the wall of the cylinder its placed in thus completing a circuit and triggering the flashing routine for a set amount of time. You should be able to buy a kit or at lease the necessary parts to construct something similar from an electronics shop, Jaycar or similar. If you can find one of those bouncy balls with the flashing lights in them, this is the same thing, you could break that open to see how it works, as i did. Maybe a simpler method would be to use a touch pad that would compete the circuit and spring back breaking the circuit again once pressure is unapplied.
