when i try to save files onto my floppy disc it says that it might not be formatted. What does this mean?

Before you can save any information onto a floppy disk, you must format it. (It writes concentric tracks on which data is stored.) Right-click on your floppy drive icon and select format. If you do already have data on the disk, be warned that if you will destroy it.

In this case, it may be that you floppy drive heads have become misaligned. Try reading the disk on someone else's computer.
