umm depends on usage; considering how cheap dell is selling the dual cores you might just want to plop down $600 for a dual core [not the core duo 2 mind u those are pricier still since they just hit the market].

i run a dual core T2300 1.66 ghz laptop for both work and play [ati mobility radeon x1300 for graphics, SB audigy yada yada] and i really havent buried both cpus at once unless i try [like compiling some large c++ libs while having some distributed computation apps running and surfing and playing some stuff in media player then i've had both cpus crawl under heavy load but do ya blame them when that much is going on? so why go 1 cpu???]

if u are not going dual core then it comes down to power consumption and how much u will have the laptop off a/c and on battery power - if a lot go with pentium M, if you'll be using an a/c outlet most of the time go with the centrino

Centrino. The pentium M on my friends computer is miserable
