Looking to get my feet wet with a Bollywood DVD rental. Any recommendations for an accessible first choice?

After viewing Bride and Prejudice, we're hoping to find something equally (or more) entertaining in the realm of something (anything) Bollywood related. Nothing too pat, nothing too sappy, just a good story and some great characters to root for.

Bend It Like Beckham-now that is one good and funny movie and it has Keira Knightley in it.
