Can it be tamed?
How about a hug?

There is conflicting evidence on this. Some of it
indicates that it is less aggressive,in the wild, then
other bears. On the other hand I have seen reports that, on the basis of hours of exposure to
humans in zoos (their keepers), the giant panda is
the second most dangerous zoo animal, after
elephants. However the amount of exposure for
elephants is many times greater than that for
pandas. Almost every zoo has elephants and very
few have pandas. So one or two incidents involving pandas can skew the results strongly.
Many wild animals can be tamed if they are taken
young enough. For mammals this normally means
before their eyes open. Whether they remain
trustworthy as adults varies. Ordinarily they are
fine when young, but I'm not sure I would trust an
adult bear. Incidentally one of the other answers
obviously has confused pandas and koalas, pandas eat bamboo, not eucalyptus.

Only a couple of days ago I read on the BT Yahoo Oddly Enough news that a drunken Chinese man had climbed into the compound of a giant panda at Beijing Zoo. Man tried to hug panda - panda bit man - man bit panda. When this was sorted out by the keepers no charge was brought against either of them. Seriously - pandas are wild animals so forget the hugging.

The Giant Panda is capable of aggression too if it's provoked like many other animals.

Giant Pandas will eat meat they have recently been filmed eating the carcase of deer( much to the surprise many of naturalists!) , whether the panda kills or scavenges for meat nobody really knows.

Is VERY aggressive towards the lowly Eucalyptus. Will bite! I don't think you are allowed to tame and or hug them. Ok, you can hug me, I like Tigers....that's my cat's name.

If you have the oppurtunity to hug a panda you will find out.

I wouldn't suggest it though.

if you will leave it alone it will leave you alone. they
can become accustomed to your presence, but they
are wild animals. if you want a cuddle get a puppy
or a kitten. or a stuffed toy.
