I wanted to discontue my AOL service and it took me over 3 hours on the phone to convinice the Rep. that I no longer wanted their service. He kept telling me to talk to a Service Rep., and would not let me stop my service. Their software took too much room on my computer and always went down when I was in the middle of something.

Because they want your money. They actually have been sued for this practice. & I think this practice has been outlawed in a few states.

WOW, I went through the EXACT same thing. They kept offering to give me 90 free days. I told them I didn't want it and they kept insisting I keep it....I finally had to raise my voice and cuss at them, (something I don't like to do), and the lady told me, "fine, whatever, your service will be stopped." and she hung up on ME!!!

I thought they had some nerve....they do not make it easy at all. AOL takes over EVERYTHING on your computer....I hated it!

Good luck with the service you choose and from my experience since then, NO ONE is as bad as AOL as far as customer service!!

What they are trying to do is save there SALE, but if you really insist then they pay attention. The software that they have are really powerful we have lots of issues as well, but all you need to do is ti unistall there programs and then make use of the Built in programs for windows in connecting to the internet. Get rid of AOL its old school.

I've discovered that if I'm VERY rude to whomever they transfer me to, after not too long, they give up.
I told the AOL guy that they has pressured my child into signing up and that I was going to sue them if they didn't remove me and remove the charge. I mentioned that my child was now seeing a therapist due to the porn you always get on AOL. They got very cooperative, really fast. I LOATH Aol. I hope they find happiness on Pluto.

and u know, sadly that won't be the end of it!
I went through the same, they would just not take 'NO, i do NOT want to keep my service, i just want the mac code!!!!!' for an answer!....When i finaaaaally got the mac code (something needed to change over your ISP to your new provider) they gave me the wrong one (purposely i assume so i'd have problems)
They then cut off my internet before i got chance to get onto my new broadband service and without informing me..When i rang them 'back' for the correct mac code they cut me off, several times....3 weeks later and i'm still trying to get my new ISP to be activated and all because of AOL.....Glad i got rid!

I know exactly what you mean AOL they always do that, it's as if they're holding you hostage, something should be done about it, they act as if they are crazy and cannot understand simple English.
