The Freemasons are an organization that some say arose out of exiled Knights Templars in Scotland in the 14th and 15th centuries. The Freemason-Templar connection is only speculative, there is no hard evidence to link them. Freemasons are a fraternal organization dedicated to making good men better. It is NOT a religion or religious organization. It requires men to be of good character and to believe in a Supreme Being (any Supreme Being will do since it is not a religion). It is one of the largest charitable organizations in the world. Two excellent books are:
