I had a German Shepherd once that did the same thing, she was dumb. And she would not sit still.

Never had a pet do that, but my cat fell out of a tree once and landed on her head. Now 10 years later, when she wants something she head butts you.

awww, thats sad
but yeah...we had a nanny goat that did close to the same thing.....she birthed twin kids and one she dropped in the creek off the side of a foot bridge and the other we caught and rescued (and i have scars up my side where i had to fight her to get the kid...she kicked the crap outta me...like 19 stitches)
then we had to milk the damn goat and bottle feed the kid!!!

When one of my cats had kittens, she was so shocked she ran around dropping them wherever, still in their bags. I had to help her and hold her down to get them suckling. Once she figured it out, she was a great mum...
