We're all concerned about getting to Mars when we can't even revisit/ do anything with the moon, lol?.

MONEY!! There is insufficient funding to accelerate the space exploration program because other items are given priority. If taxes had been greatly increased to the point that all taxpayers lived in poverty and other government spending (including both "essential" spending and waste) greatly reduced, a moon station could have been built much more quickly

The plan for manned exploration of Mars includes a first step of landing on the moon and establishing a moon base. The idea is that it's easier to test all the Mars hardware on the moon first.

If for some reason we were to lose the Moon it would be better if weren't blamed for it by the Muslims. From the Alien aspect maybe we haven't been invited back yet or it hasn't been made public. Here's some really suspicious video to laugh at about the subject;

The distance is a bit of a problem, the Moon is a lot further away then people realise.

Ok, I know you're going to think I'm wacko, but here's my take on it. During project Apollo days, the astronauts saw many UFOs on the moon. Of course they were told they could not say anything about it publicly. Anyway, I've read that they were somehow warned that the moon is inhabited, and that we are not welcome there. Personally, I don't doubt this. I guess each of us has to decide just what to believe about it.

The science of Material Engineering hasn't come up with a material that is applicable for that purpose.
