Why not just get to know him first? Start a conversation about something the two of you have in common-- try and become friends with him. Eventually he might say something or you can become more comfortable with him and ask about his orientation.

As an added benefit, by getting to know him you can see if you are actually interested in him and if you have things in common that could be the foundation of a good relationship!

Just be honest and forward with him. Sit next to him and talk with him. Get to know him better. Don't be afraid to go out on a limb. Try to get him to open up. You made the first step... eye contact is a huge step. Follow it up with a "hey" or a " how are you". You can seem interested without him thinking you're interested. Just be assertive, open to conversation, and most importantly, be yourself. Then, after awhile, when you feel the is right, start putting the conversation in that direction. Get the word gay in here somehow... mention gay people you might know,or, you can, when you're talking with him about something like a hobby or something, you can mention that you have a friend who's into that certain thing. Then you can say, " by the way, he's gay, you know." Mentioning other gay people or gay interests, seems to work a lot. Or you could ask him some questions.... finding out what he does in his free time, or what music he listens to or movies he likes, can always give you a clue. But, don't scare him off. You you do decide to be blunt about it, do it with style. Remember, you are gay, so you know how to make everything seem fantastic, and beautiful, and tactful. So, just go up to him, and have a little chat. Compliment him on something. Then, mention, gracefully, that you have noticed him staring at you with those killer eyes. And say that, with you want to go really bold. See, there are alot of ways. The worst that could happen is that... well, he could say no. But other than that, what do you have to lose? Whatever you decide to do, just know that we all will be thinking of you, and I wish you and hopefully, your soon to be boyfriend the best of luck. Go get 'em, kiddo!!!!

If you like him you should get to know him. Strike up a conversation with him. Then after a while start some subtle flirting. A perceptive person will be able to pick up on his responses. This is only if you're gay yourself and are interested in a friendship or possibly more. If you're a straight guy just trying to find out so you can pick on him or out him then you're an a*shole.

Just go up to him and say ... look I'm really sorry to be rude and I don't normally talk to strangers, but you remind me of a guy I had this mad crush on and I was wondering if you'd like to get a drink together sometime, no pressure or anything and feel free to say no...... In other words let him know subtley that you are gay and like him, you don't have to ask him directly but you can invite him for a drink and talk about you. A simple would you care to exchange phone numbers at the end of your coffee will tell you everything you need to know..... and for those that want to know, yes I have used it and yes it worked (unfortunatly he was as straight as they come, but it was a great cup of coffee!)

Introduce yourself and strike up conversation with him. Once you feel comfortable ask him if he has a girlfriend or talk about girls and see how he reacts. It should be fairly obvious, I can always tell when someone is faking being straight because they sound just like I did when I was in denial - stupid.

Just ask him, say no offense or disrespect, but I was wondering, are you gay?

Be tactful ...
