For a guy who can't play defense or run anymore, and his hitting is no longer what it once was, he is not worth his paycheck. The giants really shouldn't, but he does put people in the seats.

With Bonds age and bad knees I don't see how he can be no more than a DH, but I still feel that the Giants will still make him an offer but not get pulled into a bidding war for him. I think that an AL team that is desperate for a bat would sign him but I would not be surprised if Barry would end his career as a Giant.
As far as Giants are concerned they can still stay competitive in the NL West with Bonds because the division is just that bad, so any team that can put together a hot streak will win the West.
When it comes to Bonds I would not want him to get Aaron's record and I would feel that more so if he comes back with a soul purpose to break it. One thing I will say, I cannot help but feel that one should not look past what Bonds did before the steroids, which still regardless of anything would make Bonds one of the greatest to ever play.

I hope that the GIants let Barry Bonds fade out of the concious mind of baseball. I hope that they refuse to resign him and that every other team in professional baseball does the same. A once great player should face the disgrace he and others before him (Mcguire and Sosa) have placed on our game. It's a shame really. If he had stayed on the pace which he was on before the steriods, he still would have gone down as one of, if not the greatest, all around player of all time. Now he's just the most tainted.

If Barry is willing to sign for closer to $10 million and free up money to sign other free agents. Why not? He is still a .270 25-30 HR and RBI guy, if there is protection in the lineup.
It makes no sense for any other National League team to sign him.
What AL team would do it? The Angels maybe... but would he like playing with Vlady? Would the So-Cal-ers accept it?
The Yankees could spend the $$$, but they are stacked offensively... they need pitching.
The Tigers and Leyland? Maybe, but they seem to have plenty of fine young bats.
The best possibility is to take a pay cut and stay in SF, then he won't have to win over another group of fans.

It's time for the Giants to rebuild this team, so I think sending Barry packing is the first step. And Barry should just retire as the #2 homerun hitter.

I'm sure the Giants will do what they think is in their own best interest. Bonds won't quit playing somewhere until the breaks the record even though the entire world knows he is a cheater. He is by no means the only cheater, just the most successful cheater.

yeah and make him a 1st baseman, he's not good in the outfield
well he's ok, but he's not the same,
if he went to AL to be a DH, he'd suck and not even hit that many homeruns since the AL tougher
I'm after getting him back in when? 1993 i think
they wouldn't want him to go
I'm sure Bonds wants to end as a Giant, but it'd be better if he was a DH
