Yes you should!
Get some skates and find a frozen pond - tie them tight as ankle support is crucial to skating. Then when you can skate around a pond without falling more than once buy a stick and puck and go back to that pond. Then when you can skate around the pond while handling the puck and not falling you should be ready for a beer league...

Buy a pair of ice hockey skates. Preferbly Bauer Vapors, or Graf's. They last a while, and can sustain damage. Call up a local ice rink and go to open skating hours. Get used to the feel of the ice. Then get some gear, used gear from a friend, or brand new from a local hockey store outlet. If you feel you are good enough to play drop in ice hockey give it a go. You can do it, if you want to do it. But remember, hockey costs a lot of money, so save up.

first off, hockey is the greatest game on the planet so congratulations are in order. obviously you will have to learn to skate; if you can't skate, you can't play. there are many skating options that will take you from grass roots to hockey player. check around your area for instructional programs and skate as often as you can. if you live in a cold climate, ponds and lakes will be freezing over soon, and the world becomes your rink. good luck and keep your stick on the ice.

You should learn how to skate, get a trainer to helpyou learn. You need to be PHYSICALLY FIT. If you are lazy and never done any work or played any sports what so ever. You might as well forget playing hockey. Just learning how to skate will be challenging. Try skating with a stick and puck and trying not to get hit.

well ac hit right on the nose.....basically get yourself on the ice......you need to learn to skate before you can think of hockey.....not only do you need to learn to skate but how to stop.....and how to go fast without freaking out. if you have ever roller bladed....well your 75% there .....and you can learn all about hockey.
my advice as to learning is to find a coach or a friend who knows how to play the sport....there are many things that you will need to learn....balance.....shooting......turning....checking....how to take a check.....getting up...passing.....and positioning
