I'm looking to move to Seattle. I want to know what the cost of living is for a part time student. How much do I need per month? This is only a temporary relocation, but I'd still love to know.

Check out: http://seattle.craigslist.org for Rental listings. This is the best way to find out what it costs to live here. The person who answered about finding an apartment for $399/month was LUCKY!! I pay $605/month for a studio in the Greenlake neighborhood and I can assure you that even $600/month for a studio is considered cheap in most neighborhoods.

If you are going to be going to school and don't mind roommates, I'd suggest that. Especially since it's temporary...you won't have to buy any of your own living room furniture and maybe able to find somone with a furnished room. Many of these situations are co-op, for instance, you all share in the food, utilities, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if you stayed here longer than you think. MANY, MANY, MANY people come here not expecting to stay, but fall in love with the area and want to stay (me included!)...

Have fun!

That depends of how much space you're willing to live in and how close to the downtown area you'd like to be. I moved to Seattle about a month ago and the majority of the apartments in or around the downtown area tend to range between 500-650 a month. Those are studio prices. However if you search around you may find a deal. There's lotsa studios in the University District (which is pretty close to downtown, about 15 minute busride) that range for 350-450. If you don't mind having a roommate you'll probably even find something cheaper. As for me, I lucked out. I found an apartment in the International District/Chinatown for 399.00 a month. It's studio, yes, and it's in the international district (which some say is pretty rundown but really isn't that bad) but the apartment and the building is in great condition. And a few blocks from downtown. Even my neighbors seem really nice. If you're interested, we're located at 4th and Jackson st. The Downtowner Apartments. ;) Good luck!

Look it up on the Seattle web site... It is EXTREMELY high and only getting worse. I wouldn't move here if I didn't already live here..LOL. I would love to move, the cost of living is ridiculous!
