It depends on the ten year olds level of maturity. Also I would make sure I was at the theater maybe watching another movie or hanging in the lobby just so he/she knew I was there.

Are you serious? I don't even let my 13 year old son attend a movie with friends unless there's a trusted adult chaperone. You really need to get a little more common sense if you're the one planning this.
