It is all relative.
What is bad in some culture might be normal in other culture
what is bad today might be fine tomorrow.

In art it deals with knowing art history and technique in any branch, i.e. music, film, etc. you appreciate what is good once you understand the time it takes, the inspiration involved, the technique...the people are good for a reason, a good start is to research the masters of art Monet, Van Gogh or very good musicians such as Mozart, Debussy, they each capture the style they are going for...most styles go back to being formed from another older style so as I stated learning art history is very important, even new styles have a base from the old...as far as basic good vs bad, it deals with morality, some people don't think it exists yet everyone has a basic morality, for instance people are considered unstable if they kill loving parents or steal money from a blind children's home, personaly I believe in a set morality but that would bring up questions of a supreme being and alot of other things, a big issue is abortion, is it a woman's choice to kill her child? or should she have weighed the chances of getting pregnant before she had sex? regardless whether it is inside someone it is killing something that could be a child, many other arguements could stem from that...what makes someone happy isn't the answer b/c if it made someone happy like Hitler to kill Jews does that make it ok? probably not, society has boundaries setup most people think bad is when you do anything that harms someone but sometimes people fail to think that what they're doing really does affect others more than they think

Some bad things "feel " good, where some "good" things feel bad.
There are many good vs. bad scenerios. Ultimately - all good things are good because they are measured against some measurement. and bad is bad when it opposses which is good.
Anything can be good and anything can be bad- it is all a matter of your perspective.
There are generally accepted behavior - which is socially acceptible, and unacceptible. These are society norms. this is the measure upon which people are judged. But form one culture to another the degrees of normalcy vary.
This begs the question: is there an absolute right or wrong. The answer depends on if you beleive in a higher power- of being. Then this measruring stick would rest with them/him/it.

Once you leave home and take what has been taught to you by parents, teachers, church, etc. God has a way of nudging you into good decisions. Now sometimes, I need a brick thrown at me, but all of us do have a sense of right and wrong. Everytime we cross the line of ethics (whatever that may be individually), we destroy a little more of ourselves........that's how you end up with no conscience!!!!!!! (if you continue to cross that line of morality you have chosen inside your heart)

That is what parents are for. Parents should teach you what is good and what is bad.

we know what's good because it feels good. we know what's bad because it makes us feel bad. you do not have to know one to know the other. if you've ever seen a naturally happy infant, you'll know what i mean.
