why is responsibility important?

You've got to be kidding.......
If your not a responsible person you aren't worth the powder to blow your brains out.... that is if you've got any to begin with.
Everyone has to have responsibility. There are those who push their kids off on someone else to watch or take care of while they go gallivanting around with out a care in the world. They produced those kids and it is their responsibility to take care of them them and not someone else's job. And that's just one example. If your driving a car it's your responsibility not to have an accident. That's another good example. Everyone is responsible for their own deeds and actions. I personally want nothing to do with an irresponsible person.

In context of fashion & accessories? I'm afraid I can only guess that it would be important to wear appropriate clothing for any given situation, such as a job interview.

As for life in general, if one is not responsible, that hardly speaks good things of their character. With responsibility should also come, dependability and reputable behavior in words and deeds. Only you can create your own set of standards, but I'd rather be known as responsible than irresponsible....or anything worse that might follow.
