Peter Griffin is much more seriously violent than Homer. In fact, in several early episodes Homer imparts wisdom to Bart, such as to cry like a girl if you have to, and don't be afraid to hit the family jewels, we're Simpsons and we need all the help we can get!
As a side note, when the Simpsons go to Italy and they turn Sideshow Bob in to the police, the policemen look through a book of criminals and the first one is a picture of Peter Griffin under the crime "Plagiarismo"

Homer simpson would win hands down, Homer was a pro boxer and was competing for the heavyweight belt, peter griffin had a hard time with a man sized chicken.

Peter proves he's a good fighter when he fights the big chicken, but Homer was a boxer in one episode and would take punches until his opponent wore down and then push them over. Peter would probably wear down quickly and Homer would be champion!
