I have two computers running on Windows XP. One a computer(desktop) it is the residential gateway(the one with the main internet connction), and one a laptop it uses Wi-Fi access to connect to internet. In the desktop, when i run the Netwrk set up wizard it is never able to finish succesfully. Also in my laptop, in the network Setup wizard, my Wi-Fi PCI card isn't getting picked up. What should I do? All your written methods I have tried a 100 times previously to no avail. Is there any software that automatically configures printers to the network(for FREE). Other than Printeranywhere

If both of the computers are connected to the network, all you have to do is set up the printer on one of the computers & enable sharing for the printer in the printer properties on the computer. Or if the printer is wi-fi ready, connect it directly to network & tell the computers the path & ip for the printer. Then on the remote pc set up another printer & use printer connection to browse the network for the printer.

OK - you need to setup a home network so you can see each others computers. There is a network setup in your control panel. You need to name your computers. I have 2 laptops and a desktop and they all see each other - and can print to the printer..... but trick is to SHARE.

After you can at least 'see' the other computer on My Network Places, then you need to go to the desktop, go to the printer section in the Control Panel, and right mouse button click and SHARE the printer. You also might want to share drives too.

Once you share the printer, and you try to print from the laptop, it SHOULD request the driver be copied from the desktop to the laptop. The driver is necessary on the laptop to print to the desktop. You can install the driver separately if you want.

First things first, take it a step at a time. Both computers, at minimum should connect to the network. By the way, your desktop is not a gateway. Your desktop can be turned off and you still can connect wirelessly via the router.... so you have YOUR OWN connection. In fact, turn off your main computer but make sure the router stays on and make sure that your laptop is connecting through the router.

My printer was already connected when I added WiFi. I followed the directions and could not get it to run, repeated the process a number of times and went through trouble shooting and still nothing.

I uninstalled the printer and reinstall as wireless and it worked fine. Then just install the driver in the individual computers.

I had the comparable concern at homestead whilst i offered a vista laptop. i attempted all the flaws that have already been reported and nevertheless... no longer something. ultimately i desperate i could attempt to hardwire the laptop and voila. as quickly as I plugged the community cable in, it got here across the printer. could be an remoted case. i replaced into getting too fired up fooling with it to purpose anymore techniques once I have been given it to print besides. I determine I could walk to the printer for the printout, might aswell walk to it first and plug in. reliable luck!
